Dr. Tony Attwood
DR. TONY ATTWOOD

Tony Attwood is well known for sharing his knowledge of Aspergers Syndrome. He has an Honours degree in Psychology from the University of Hull, Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Surrey and a PhD from the University of London. He is currently adjunct Associate Professor at Griffith University in Queensland.

Tony has written several publications on Aspergers Sydrome. His book, titled Aspergers Syndrome, has now been translated into several languages.

Tony operates his clinic two days a week and supports children and adults by visiting them at school and home. He also spends a large amount of time travelling nationally and internationally to present workshops and papers.

Tony is married to Sarah with three children, Rosie, William and Caroline. They reside in Brisbane, Australia, in which Tony uses part of his home as his clinic to see families.




BRENDA SMITH MYLES Ph.D


Brenda Smith Myles Ph.D., a consultant with the Ziggurat Group and the National Professional Development Center on Autism Spectrum Disorders and Chief Program Officer for the Autism Society of America, is the recipient of the 2004 Autism Society of America’s Outstanding Professional Award and the 2006 Princeton Fellowship Award. She has written numerous articles and books on Asperger Syndrome and autism including Asperger Syndrome and Difficult Moments: Practical Solutions for Tantrums, Rage, and Meltdowns (with Southwick) and Asperger Syndrome and Adolescence: Practical Solutions for School Success (with Adreon). The latter is the winner of the Autism Society of America’s Outstanding Literary Work. Brenda has made over 500 presentations all over the world, written more than 150 articles and books on autism and Asperger Syndrome, and served as the co-chair of the National ASD Teacher Standards Committee. Myles is also on the executive boards of several organizations, including the Organization for Autism Research and Maap Services Inc. In addition, she was recently acknowledged as the second most productive applied researcher in ASD in the world from 1997 to 2004.



Kari Dunn Buron
KARI DUNN BURON, MS

Kari Dunn Buron has been working with students with autism for over 30 years. She recently retired from public school but continues to teach for Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota where she developed an Autism Spectrum Disorders Certificate program for educators. Kari is one of the founding members of the Minnesota Autism Network, a statewide network of ASD educational consultants. Kari has done volunteer work specific to autism in Trinidad, Tobago, Barbados, Tanzania and Ghana. In 2003, Kari received a Self-designed Fellowship that allowed her to spend a year interviewing and working internationally with a number of therapists and researchers in the area of Social Cognition, Education and Autism. In 1995 Kari designed a summer camp for youth with Asperger Syndrome which she ran every summer for 14 years. She is the co-author of The Incredible 5-Point Scale, and the author of When My Worries Get Too Big, A 5 Could Make Me Lose Control and A 5 is Against the Law! (2008 ASA literary award winner). Kari is also the co-editor of a textbook for educators titled Learners on the Autism Spectrum: Preparing Highly Qualified Educators (2009 ASA literary award winner) and is the creator of a new social skills magazine designed for students with Asperger Syndrome called The Social Times.



Rebecca Moyes
REBECCA MOYES, M.Ed

Rebecca Moyes, M.Ed., is a former regular education teacher for nine years in public and private schools in Pennsylvania. She has two children currently in college, one of whom has Asperger’s syndrome. She left her teaching position to become an autism inclusion consultant. Today, she serves as the director of the Pressley Ridge School for Autism in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Rebecca also serves as an autism presenter with the Bureau of Education Research and travels to many cities throughout the United State. She is highly recognized as an authority in the field of autism education and as an educational advocate for students with PDD.

Rebecca is the author of three books. Her first two books were published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers. “Incorporating Social Goals in the Classroom –A Guide for Teachers and Parents of Children with High Functioning Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome” was published in 2001. Her second book, “Addressing the Challenging Behavior of Children with High Functioning Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome in the Classroom,” was published in 2002. Her third book, published by Future Horizons Publishers, received the I-Parenting Media Award. It is titled: “I Need Help with School.” This book helps parents to write effective IEP’s for their children. She has recently released a fourth book: “Building Sensory Friendly Classrooms” this past fall. In the winter of 2012, her new book “Visual Strategies to Teach Social Skills,” will be published by Future Horizons Publishers.

In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys reading and gardening, and anything else that provides some sensory down-time!

STEPHEN SHORE Ph.D


Diagnosed with "Atypical Development and strong autistic tendencies" and "too sick" for outpatient treatment Dr. Shore was recommended for institutionalization. Nonverbal until four, and with much support from his parents, teachers, wife, and others, Stephen is now a professor at Adelphi University where his research focuses on matching best practice to the needs of people with autism. In addition to working with children and talking about life on the autism spectrum, Stephen presents and consults internationally on adult issues pertinent to education, relationships, employment, advocacy, and disclosure as discussed in his books Beyond the Wall: Personal Experiences with Autism and Asperger Syndrome, Ask and Tell: Self-advocacy and Disclosure for People on the Autism Spectrum, the critically acclaimed Understanding Autism for Dummies, and the newly released DVD Living along the Autism Spectrum: What it means to have Autism or Asperger Syndrome. President emeritus of the Asperger's Association of New England, Dr. Shore serves in the Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee, the Board of Directors for Autism Society of America, Advocates for High Functioning Autism, and other autism related organizations.




SUSAN L. STOKES, M.A., CCC-SLP, EDUCATIONAL AUTISM CONSULTANT


Susan L. Stokes, M.A., CCC-SLP has specialized in the area of autism spectrum disorder as both a speech/language pathologist and autism consultant for 25 years. She has presented at many state and national workshops/conferences, and frequently provides trainings on visual supports, assistive technology and all related aspects of ASD to various groups across the country. Susan is published in Teaching Students with Autism Spectrum Disroder: A Step-by-Step Guide for Educators. Chapters 8, 13, & 14. Edited by Roger Pierangelo and George Giuliani. She is also the author of "Autism: Interventions and Strategies for Success", a Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction publication available at www.cesa7.k12.wi.us/sped/autism/index2.htm.




SEAN SMITH, Ph.D.

Sean Smith, Ph.D. is an associate professor at the University of Kansas in the Department of Special Education where he currently teaches undergraduate and graduate courses. In addition, he serves as part of the Center for Research on Learning, the e-Learning Design Lab management team and the Advanced Learning Technologies Advisory Group. Dr. Smith received his Ph.D. in Special Education-Technology Integration from the University of Virginia in 1997. He specializes in the integration of instructional/assistive technology into the lives of individuals with disabilities and their respective educational professionals. He is the author of “Exceptional Lives: Special Education in Today’s Schools” as well as numerous journal articles.



Sheila Wagner
SHEILA WAGNER, M.Ed.

Ms Wagner earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, and her graduate degree from Georgia State University. Ms Wagner is a national and international lecturer on educating students with Autism Spectrum Disorders specializing in inclusive programming. She is a published author of three books on inclusive programming for students with ASD, a pamphlet on Asperger’s syndrome, a contributor to Temple Grandin and Tony Attwood’s Asperger’s and Girls text, is a certified special educator, teacher trainer, school and student consultant inside and outside of Georgia and has close to 30 years of involvement in the education of students with ASD. Ms. Wagner also writes companion articles for NBC.com’s website on their television program Parenthood under “Ask the Expert” link. Ms. Wagner lives in the Atlanta area with her husband, Tom.



Dr. Patrick Schwarz
PATRICK SCHWARZ, Ph.D

Dr. Patrick Schwarz is a dynamic and engaging professor, author, motivational speaker and leader in Education (Inclusive Education, Special Education, General Education, Educational Leadership) and Human Services. He is a professor at National-Louis University, Chicago. Patrick’s company is Creative Culture Consulting LLC. He is the coauthor of From Disability to Possibility, You’re Welcome, Just Give Him the Whale, and the upcoming Pedro’s Whale.




MARTIN L. KUTSCHER, M.D.

Martin L. Kutscher, M.D. is board certified in Pediatrics and in Neurology, with Special Competency in Child Neurology. He lectures internationally, and is author of five recent books, including Organizing the Disorganized Child (with Marcella Moran); ADHD: Living without Brakes, Kids in the Syndrome Mix of ADHD, LD, Asperger’s, Tourette’s, Bipolar and More: The one stop guide for parents, teachers, and other professionals and The ADHD BOOK: Living Right Now! A graduate of Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons, he completed his pediatrics at Temple University’s St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children and a pediatric neurology fellowship at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Kutscher was an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics and of Neurology at the New York Medical College for more than two decades. Dr. Kutscher’s medical practice is limited to pediatric behavioral neurology. He is author of the website www.SyndromeMix.com.




JUDY ENDOW, MSW

Judy Endow, MSW, maintains a private practice in Madison, Wisconsin, providing consultation for families, school districts and other agencies. Besides having autism herself, she is the parent of three now grown sons, one of whom is on the autism spectrum. Judy does workshops and presentations on a variety of autism related issues, is part of the Wisconsin DPI Statewide Autism Training Team and a board member of both the Autism Society of America, Wisconsin Chapter and the Autism National Committee. In addition, Judy is a member of the Autistic Global Initiative (AGI), a program of Autism Research Institute.

Judy has received the 2010 Autism Society Media Excellence Award for her DVD, The Power of Words: How We Talk about People with Autism Spectrum Disorders Matters! In addition, she has authored the annual Hidden Curriculum Calendar for Older Adolescents and Adults.
